SAND ROAD SAVANNAS

We are a dedicated small farm proudly located in the picturesque southwestern corner of Indiana. Our rewarding journey into the world of goat farming began in the year 2009, initially focusing on Boer and Nubian goats when my son expressed a heartfelt desire to enter a meat goat in our local county fair. After being introduced to a small herd of captivating Savanna goats in 2012, we found ourselves falling deeply in love with their unique characteristics and remarkable qualities, which set them apart from other breeds. Since that transformative time, we have committed ourselves wholly to producing the highest quality Savanna meat goats possible, and we are always striving for excellence in every aspect of our farming practices. We maintain a carefully managed, small, closed herd, firmly believing that prioritizing quality over quantity aligns best with our sustainable farm model. Savanna goats are well-known for their impressive tolerance to parasites, requiring minimal human intervention, while also showcasing an exceptional maternal instinct that makes them ideally suited for family-run farms like ours. This remarkable breed thrives in our particular climate, which varies significantly from the extreme heat and humidity of summer to the harsh rain, sleet, and snow of winter. Remarkably, the Savanna goats seem to handle these diverse weather conditions with remarkable ease, never compromising their overall health or well-being, which is a testament to their resilient nature and the dedicated care we provide.
